Living and Retiring in Denia, Spain

Denia is a charming town located along the Mediterranean coastline, where the Mediterranean sun shines almost all year. Denia is sophisticated and cosmopolitan with a cozy, small village feel. For sea lovers, the marina offers 546 moorings and a full range of services.

Miles of sandy beaches and rocky coves makes Denia an ideal place to vacation or live. North of Denia are fine sand swimming beaches with shallow waters. To the south you’ll find small coves along the rocky coast, known as Les Rotes, perfect for fishing and diving.

The town sits at the foot of a hill topped by a castle, which was the residence of the Marquis of Denia. Friendly cafes and restaurants line the promenade facing the full service marina. Denia is situated 95 km from the city of Valencia and 110 kilometres from Alicante airport, (approximately 1 hour 20 minutes) The town center is walkable and public transportation is good and inexpensive.

The Mediterranean climate provides cool sea breezes in the summer and the surrounding mountains provide shelter from the cold North winds in winter. The area averages around 3,000 hours of sunshine per year. August is the hottest month in Denia with an average temperature of 79°F and the coldest is January at 54°F.
